Art Supplies: Uniball Signo Micro pen

Greetings, fellow artists! Welcome to the Burnshadow blog, it's undergoing a revision. Along with art from myself and friends, I'm also posting reviews of art materials and books. As all my art peers know, I have an immense collection of resources, and I'm happy to share my findings.

PEN AND INK TOOLS

Uniball Signo Micro 307 retractable gel pen

Today's report: Holy cow, Batman, the new Uniball Signo Micro pen!!

As they say in Star Wars, "Whoa, this baby really moves!!" Oh yes. Pen and ink artists rejoice. This pen may also come in WHITE gel, which is super useful to toned paper pieces. So tiny, these lines, so smooth.

It's love at first sketch.

Stats:
Uniball Signo Micro pen, Micro 307 gel retractable.
Found locally in stores
Can erase over it.
Water? Smears like crazy.
Comes in black, white gel

Pilot G-Tec C4 technical pen

My second favorite pen and ink pen is the Pilot G-Tec C4. This is a precise instrument, which you cannot erase over, so no pencil first (which is a great challenge!). Never globs on the paper, or super rarely. I use the 0.4 for some of my pen and ink art. Not usually found locally, you may have to resort to online.

This smooth rolling pen experience is worth the trouble of no pencil; and you can always use a tracing table to change a pencil drawing to pen without erasing. It's so smooth. And the lack of globs while drawing is beautiful.

Stats:
Pilot Gtec C4 Technical Pen
Only found online, not locally
Cannot erase over it, it will smear a little
Water will make it run (good for ink effects)
Comes in multiple colors

Draw on, my friends! Here's a piece I did with the Gtec:

Stay tuned for a piece with the new Uniball!
