My friends requested a lot of different images for Inktober. Hummingbirds got a lot of mentions. This hummingbird was sketched with a Pentel Stylo pen, on multimedia paper, with Inktense watercolor pencils.

Inktober: Artist loose in a petting zoo

Hey everyone! So you take an animal artist to a petting zoo and it's good times for everybody. The animals, the artist, everyone around the artist, etc.

This Inktober is dedicated to the kind people of the Animal Encounters mobile petting zoo, and their full grown turkey named "Jive." Thanks buddy, for strutting your stuff.

Inktober number one!! "Regards" the Harpy Eagle

Inktober is here again, my third October of the pen and ink challenge, and huge thanks to Jake Parker for inventing it. The idea is to do a traditionally rendered pen drawing - any pens, any style - each day in October. I like to do the pen drawings within a day or less, to keep it fair.

It's because of Inktober that I discovered that I love pen and ink so much. So my favorite month just started! Stay tuned. I will be posting each sketch here, on Twitter (DeunanB), on Tumblr and on Facebook as well.

Sketches will be available as prints, too. And a huge thanks to my fans, who provided some of the art materials I will be using this month!

Soul of Owl

This is an owl study done prior to a commission and it just grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let me sleep until I had it done. Awesome when art does that. I suspect the brand new pens also had something to do with it (I had worn out another set).
